Feijoa and apple crumble

Feijoa and apple crumble is the perfect comforting dessert for those autumn months. You can even adjust the recipe for other fruit to suit the season, simply use what you have on hand for this easy, soul warming, post dinner treat.

  • 16 feijoas (flesh scooped out)
  • 1 apple (skin on, cored and chopped)
  • 1 lime (rind grated, juice half)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

  •  1 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup desiccated coconut
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 3/4 cup nuts (I had slivered almonds and walnuts)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 50g butter

Turn your oven onto bake 180 or fan bake 170 degrees.

Put all of the fruit mixture into a small baking dish and stir together.

Add oats, coconut, cinnamon and ginger into a bowl and set aside.  Using a blender or food processor, crush the nuts, then add in the sugar and butter and bring it all roughly together.

Add the blended ingredients to your bowl with the dry ingredients. Mix it together, you’ll want to use your fingers to get it to a crumble consistency.

Spoon the crumble over the top of your fruit, bake for 25 minutes or until golden and fruit is bubbling.
